I am one of the sons of Thomas Porter and Josephine Campbell Porter, born in Braddock, PA. Thomas Porter had seven children, (6boys and one daughter),and two step children. He is one of the sons of Washington Porter. Thomas labored in the U.S. Steel plant for 35 years. He was closest to his brother Ellis, who lived in St. Pet. Iersburg, Fla. We are a large family that has achieved a far flung middle class family unit, having avoided most of the challenges of being Black in America, with no incarcerations, few addictions and good educational achievements. I believe this is fairly consistent through the lineage. On accasion I have "run into" other family members, in Wisconsin, Farrel, Pa.. and Bridgeport and Stamford. I last attended the P.A. R.C. Family reunion held in N.J.in 2000. I look forward to future communications, connections and attendance at the 2021 reunion, COVID permitting. |
